Urban area 1999 and 2010 in Occitanie

An urban area or "large urban area" is a set of municipalities, in one piece and without an enclave, consisting of an urban center (urban unit) of more than 10,000 jobs, and by rural municipalities or urban units (ring peri-urban) of which at least 40% of the resident population with a job works in the center or in municipalities attracted by it. The 2010 urban area zoning also distinguishes between: "medium areas", a set of municipalities, all in one piece and without an enclave, made up of a pole (urban unit) of 5,000 to 10,000 jobs, and rural or urban units in which at least 40% of the resident population with a job works in the center or in municipalities attracted by it. "small areas", a set of municipalities, in one piece and without enclave, consisting of a pole (urban unit) of 1,500 to 5,000 jobs, and by rural municipalities or urban units of which at least 40% of the resident population with a job works in the center or in municipalities attracted by it. The urban areas, dated 2010, were established with reference to the population known at the 2008 census.
